Recently, Manovikas Kendra Chairperson Prof Anuradha Lohia was invited to attend the Annual Conference of the Bengal Obstetric and Gynaecological Society as the Chief Guest. Here are moments from her insightful lecture on The Manifestation of Neurodevelopmental Disorders after Birth.
We are absolutely overwhelmed by the incredible response we received at our recent holiday events! It was a joy to showcase our work and connect with so many of you at the Kolkata International Women's Club (KIWC) Christmas Bazaar on November 30 and the German Consulate Charity Christmas Market on December 13.

Our students have done it again! We are thrilled to announce our wins at two major inter-school fests: SMAYAN (Sushila Birla Girls' School): Winners in Band Performance & "Dress to Impress!" and KALAKRITI (Loreto College): 2nd Place in Dance!

Very recently, one of our students, 18 year old Ishan Banerjee won the Creative Adult State Award for his exceptional dance moves and baking skills. Simultaneously, Korok Biswas, another Manovikas student was honoured by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) at their New Delhi HQ for his excellence in Classical Dance during their 36th Foundation Day.
We congratulate both of them and celebrate their achievements. This is a moment of unending pride for us.
Saw us successfully conduct the conference on Neurodevelopmental and Neurodegenerative Disorders: Redefining Diagnosis and Management. A part of the conference was an enriching and engaging panel discussion on “Every Child is Special”, a topic delved on very well by 5 eminent Kolkata doctors.
We brought together over 150 attendees and leading experts to discuss the future of Neurodevelopmental and Neurodegenerative care.
Jointly organised with the Indian Psychiatric Society, West Bengal State Branch, the event featured incredible insights from top Psychiatrists, Neurologists, and Paediatricians.

We are pleased to share that on November 26, 2025, a free Dental Check-up Camp was successfully organised for our students in collaboration with Kusum Devi Sunderlal Dugar Jain Dental College and Hospital. This initiative provided essential oral healthcare screenings and was deeply appreciated by the parents and
guardians of our students.

On November 24th, our students had an incredible time exploring the world of tactile art in a special workshop led by Siddhant Shah, National Award-winning design expert and founder of Access for ALL.
Using cut and torn paper, the students experimented with layering to create beautiful landscapes. It was more than just an art class — it was a journey of sensory engagement, collaboration, and creative expression.

Resourced by Dr. Shampa Sengupta and conducted by our resident legal expert Madhurima Dhanuka, the session aimed to bridge the gap between legal frameworks and family needs. It was inspiring to see parents actively engaging with the material, transforming legal literacy into a tool for advocacy. The discussion centered on how policies and support systems can be leveraged to open doors for education, benefits, and long-term protection.
We thank the parents who participated with such intent and vulnerability. By understanding these rights, you are building a stronger shield and a brighter path for your children. We look forward to continuing this vital work—ensuring that every family feels informed, confident, and heard.

4th November, 2025 saw a major milestone set up a our timelines. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Manovikas Kendra and The Neotia University, to foster research, provide opportunities for eligible candidates to pursue internships and PhD programmes and organise joint workshops, conferences and other quality experiences to promote teaching - learning, for the next five years. Here's to a mutually beneficial and fruitful relationship in the days to come.
Diwali celebrations at Manovikas Kendra began on a bright, joyful note with the “Festive Fiesta” on 16th October 2025. Students enjoyed a fun-filled morning of games and activities organised by the Interact Clubs of The BSS School, Calcutta International School, and Sri Sri Academy, reflecting the true spirit of inclusion and togetherness.
The event was inaugurated by Dr Krishnendu Gupta, Past District Governor of Rotary District 3291, along with Ms Arpita Chatterjee, Ms Gargi Banerjee, Ms Dipti Khaitan, and our Chairperson, Prof Anuradha Lohia. Heartfelt thanks to the Interact Clubs for bringing joy, light, and festive cheer to our campus this Diwali.
Manovikas Kendra hosted a two-day Ensembl Genome Browser Workshop (24–25 September 2025), introducing participants to the study of genomes and genetic variations through interactive sessions and practical demonstrations.
Led by Dr Jorge Batista da Rocha, Outreach Project Leader at EMBL-EBI, the workshop blended theory and hands-on learning, showcasing tools like the Variation Effect Predictor (VEP) to connect genomic science with real-world medical applications.
On the 5th of September, the parents and students of Manovikas Kendra paid an absolutely glorious tribute to the teachers and caregivers with performances right from the heart.

We were elated to host the state Government’s Principal Secretary from the Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare, Smt Sanghamitra Ghosh on August 22, 2025. While our students presented some of our co-curricular activities, Smt Ghosh took a great deal of interest in what Manovikas Kendra offers in terms of therapy, vocational training and Biomedical Research, in addition to discussing areas of possible collaboration between Manovikas Kendra and the Government.
Independence Day 2025 saw students of different schools like Indus Valley World School and Sushila Birla Girls’ School come together at Manovikas Kendra, amidst august company. We hosted Mrs and Mr Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, the co-founders of Bandhan Bank as the children displayed exemplary versatility in the performing arts.

Monsoon Melodies at Manovikas Kendra on 16th July 2025 celebrated music, dance, and poetry, bringing together students from schools across Kolkata. Performances by our students and Interact Clubs from leading schools filled the day with colour, rhythm, and joy.
The event, graced by Chief Guest Ms Sanjukta Bose and other dignitaries, concluded with a collective rendition of “Hridoy Amar Nache Re Ajke,” capturing the spirit of unity and inclusion that defined the celebration.
On 15th July 2025, the children of Manovikas Kendra celebrated the magic of the monsoons with a vibrant programme of music and dance.
Dressed in beautiful shades of blue and green, our students lit up the stage with confidence and cheer, much to the delight of their proud parents.

We were delighted to host Sudeshna Maitra Nag, Chief Dietitian. With over 25 years of experience, our guest shared practical tips on healthy eating and highlighted the gut-brain connection, explaining how food choices impact mood, sleep, and behaviour.
On 12th July, over 200 people from the students and staff of Manovikas Kendra enjoyed a special screening of Sitaaren Zameen Par at Priya Cinema — a celebration of empathy, inspiration, and inclusion.

At Manovikas Kendra, Yoga is woven into our children’s everyday care—not as an activity, but as a pathway to connection, calm, and confidence. For children with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and ADHD, Yoga supports motor skills, eases anxiety, and becomes a language of self-expression. Each performance was a glowing tribute to the talent and passion of our children. Parents and caregivers graced the occasion, cherishing the proud moments of their children’s achievements.
At Manovikas Kendra, our recent clay modelling workshop became a canvas for expression, growth and connection. Under the expert guidance of Mr Rintu Paul, children embarked on a tactile journey that provided a therapeutic outlet for emotional expression. This initiative was made possible through the generous support of Calcutta Park Street Ladies Circle 46 and Round Table 34, facilitated by Kolkata Centre for Creativity (KCC). World Down Syndrome Day at Manovikas Kendra was a confluence of awareness and inclusivity through artistic expression by the students of Birla High School with our students and scientific engagement from the Department of Biomedical Research.
